Grit Blasting Machines - Shipyard and Dry Dock Equipment

Grit blasting machines are compressed-air abrasive blasting units used in shipyards, dry docks, and onboard repair areas to remove rust, mill scale, old coatings, and marine fouling before inspection or recoating. Typical systems include a pressure blast pot, abrasive metering valve, blast hose, nozzle, and deadman control.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Grit Blasting Machines for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Pressure blast pots may be manufactured to applicable ASME Section VIII, PED 2014/68/EU, CE, and local pressure-equipment requirements, depending on model and supply region. ISO 8501-1 and ISO 8503 are commonly used to define prepared steel cleanliness and surface profile, not to certify the machine itself.
Class Approval Grit blasting machines are not normally subject to a universal marine class approval. Acceptance may depend on shipyard procedures, flag-state requirements, pressure-vessel regulations, and project-specific requirements from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV, or ClassNK.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Place the blast machine on a stable, level surface. Connect correctly sized, clean, dry compressed-air lines, abrasive hose, nozzle, moisture separator, and deadman control. Verify hose couplings, nozzle holder, gaskets, grounding, and pressure-vessel certification before operation.
Maintenance Tips Depressurize completely before servicing. Inspect the vessel, piping, valves, hoses, couplings, nozzle, and deadman control regularly. Remove moisture and abrasive residue after use, check metering-valve wear, and replace damaged components according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Safety Notes Use an approved supplied-air blasting helmet, protective clothing, gloves, hearing protection, and respiratory protection appropriate to the abrasive. Establish exclusion zones, control dust and spent abrasive, inspect hoses and couplings, and never open the vessel while pressurized. Follow abrasive and coating hazardous-material requirements.
