Coolant Caps - Engine Room Consumables and Spares

Coolant caps are pressure-rated closures fitted to marine engine radiators, expansion tanks, or coolant header tanks. They maintain the specified cooling-system pressure and provide controlled pressure relief and coolant recovery where applicable.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Coolant Caps for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification No single universal marine standard applies to all coolant caps. Selection and pressure rating should comply with the engine, radiator, or coolant-tank manufacturer's specification. Materials should be compatible with the specified marine engine coolant.
Class Approval Coolant caps are normally treated as engine-system components and are not usually individually class-approved. Where required, acceptance is covered by the approved engine or cooling-system installation under DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV, or ClassNK requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify cap pressure rating, diameter, locking arrangement, and gasket condition against the OEM part number. Install only after the engine and coolant system have cooled. Clean the filler neck and ensure the cap locks fully without cross-threading.
Maintenance Tips Inspect the seal, spring, valve, and locking tabs during cooling-system maintenance. Replace caps showing corrosion, damaged seals, loss of spring tension, coolant leakage, or incorrect pressure. Do not exceed the OEM pressure rating.
Safety Notes Never remove a coolant cap from a hot or pressurized engine. Allow the system to cool and release pressure slowly using suitable protective equipment. Use only the approved coolant type and maintain the specified coolant level.
