X Rings - Engine Room Consumables and Spares

X-rings, also called quad rings, are elastomeric static or dynamic seals used in marine engine-room equipment. Their four-lobed profile provides sealing with reduced twisting compared with conventional O-rings.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply X Rings for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Seal dimensions may reference ISO 3601 or AS568 where applicable. Material compatibility, pressure, temperature and gland design must be confirmed from the manufacturer. No single universal standard covers every marine X-ring application.
Class Approval X-rings are generally standard sealing components without universal individual class approval. Acceptance depends on the equipment, service system and classification requirements; verify DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV or ClassNK requirements when specified.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm the exact size, material and compound compatibility before installation. Clean the groove and mating surfaces, remove burrs, lubricate with a compatible fluid, and avoid twisting, stretching beyond limits or cutting the seal during fitting.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for flattening, extrusion, cracking, swelling, abrasion and leakage during planned maintenance. Replace seals at overhaul or when removed from a joint; do not reuse damaged or permanently deformed X-rings.
Safety Notes Isolate, depressurize and cool equipment before opening sealed joints. Use the correct compound for fuel, lubricating oil, hydraulic fluid, seawater or high-temperature service. Follow the manufacturer's pressure and temperature limits.
