Oil Heaters - Engine Room Consumables and Spares

Marine oil heaters are used to raise or maintain the temperature of fuel oil, lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, and thermal oil in engine-room systems. They may be electric immersion heaters, circulation heaters, or steam/hot-water heat exchangers, selected according to oil type, flow rate, temperature, and vessel classification requirements.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Oil Heaters for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include IEC 60092 marine electrical installation standards, IEC 60533 for electromagnetic compatibility, and manufacturer-specific testing. Certification depends on heater type, electrical installation, hazardous-area designation, and vessel class.
Class Approval Class acceptance or type approval may be available from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, and ClassNK, subject to the specific manufacturer, heater design, installation location, and vessel notation.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install according to the manufacturer’s drawings and vessel piping or electrical diagrams. Provide correct flow, adequate immersion or circulation, isolation valves where applicable, temperature control, over-temperature protection, grounding, and required clearance. Confirm compatibility with the oil and electrical supply.
Maintenance Tips Inspect terminals, cables, seals, thermostats, sensors, and protective devices. Check for oil leakage, fouling, scale, insulation deterioration, and abnormal current draw. Clean heating surfaces as specified and verify temperature-control calibration during planned maintenance.
Safety Notes Isolate electrical power and depressurize or drain the system before maintenance. Do not energize an immersion heater unless adequately immersed or circulated. Prevent overheating, ignition sources, and oil leakage. Use suitable PPE and follow vessel permit-to-work and lockout/tagout procedures.
