Gaskets - Engine Room Consumables and Spares

Marine engine room gaskets are sealing components fitted between flanges, covers, valves, pumps, heat exchangers and engine assemblies. They prevent leakage of seawater, freshwater, fuel, lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, air, steam and exhaust gases.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Gaskets for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common dimensional and design references include ASME B16.20 for metallic gaskets, ASME B16.21 for nonmetallic flat gaskets, EN 1514 for flanged pipe gaskets and applicable DIN flange standards. Certification is product- and application-specific.
Class Approval Classification acceptance is application- and manufacturer-specific. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK may accept gasket materials when incorporated in approved piping, machinery or fire-rated systems.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify gasket material, dimensions, pressure rating and compatibility before installation. Clean flange faces, align the joint, use a new gasket, and tighten bolts progressively in the specified cross-pattern and torque sequence. Do not reuse compressed gaskets.
Maintenance Tips Inspect accessible joints for leakage, compression loss, corrosion and bolt loosening during planned maintenance. Replace gaskets after dismantling pressure-bound joints and keep spare gaskets sealed, flat, dry and protected from heat, oil and sunlight.
Safety Notes Isolate, depressurize, drain and cool the system before opening a joint. Confirm absence of hazardous fuel, steam, oil or chemical pressure. Use the correct gasket for the service and never substitute asbestos-containing material or an incompatible gasket.
