Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include SOLAS Chapter II-2, IMO requirements, ISO 10088 for small-craft fuel systems, and manufacturer or flag-state requirements. The applicable standard depends on vessel type, tank arrangement and fuel system design.
Class Approval Class acceptance depends on the vessel design and installation. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK may review fuel-tank vent arrangements as part of vessel statutory and classification approval.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install the vent at the tank high point and route it continuously upward where practicable. Terminate in a safe, weather-protected location away from ignition sources and accommodation air intakes. Use compatible gaskets, fittings and fuel-resistant hose, and maintain the required vent area.
Maintenance Tips Inspect periodically for blockage, corrosion, damaged screens, loose fittings and fuel staining. Clean the vent opening and screen without enlarging mesh openings. Replace damaged seals, screens or vent heads and verify unobstructed airflow after maintenance.
Safety Notes Isolate the tank and eliminate ignition sources before work. Do not obstruct or undersize the vent. Treat the tank and vent line as potentially containing flammable vapors, use suitable PPE and follow vessel permit-to-work and fuel-system procedures.
