Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable standards depend on packing type and service. Common references include EN 1514 and ASME B16.20/B16.21 for gaskets, ISO 7483 for gasket dimensions, and ASTM material standards. Manufacturer material certificates may be required.
Class Approval Class approval is generally applicable to the complete piping, valve, or machinery installation rather than generic packing material. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, and ClassNK may accept approved manufacturer materials where required by the vessel specification.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify material compatibility, dimensions, pressure, temperature, and fluid service before installation. Clean sealing surfaces, remove the old packing, install the correct cross-section or gasket profile, and tighten fasteners evenly to the specified torque. Do not reuse compressed gaskets unless specifically approved.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for leakage, compression loss, hardening, cracking, extrusion, or shaft wear during planned maintenance. Retighten gland packing only according to equipment instructions. Replace damaged or permanently compressed packing and keep spare materials sealed, dry, and identified.
Safety Notes Isolate, depressurize, drain, cool, and electrically secure equipment before replacement. Treat fuel, steam, hot water, chemicals, and asbestos-containing legacy materials as hazardous. Use appropriate gloves, eye protection, respiratory protection, and permit-to-work procedures.
