Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Selection and installation should comply with the vessel's approved tank design, flag-state requirements, and applicable standards such as ISO 21487 for permanently installed small-craft fuel tanks where applicable. Commercial vessels may require class-approved design and materials.
Class Approval Class acceptance depends on the vessel, tank design, material, pressure or leakage requirements, and approved drawings. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, and ClassNK may review or approve the hatch as part of the fuel-tank arrangement.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install on a flat, structurally adequate tank surface using the manufacturer's gasket and fastener arrangement. Ensure the cover is accessible, correctly aligned, uniformly tightened, leak-tested, and compatible with the fuel carried. Do not use unapproved sealants inside the tank.
Maintenance Tips Inspect the cover, fasteners, gasket, and surrounding tank plating during planned maintenance. Clean sealing surfaces, replace hardened or damaged gaskets, check for corrosion and fuel leakage, and retighten fasteners to the specified torque.
Safety Notes Isolate and drain the tank before opening. Ventilate and gas-free the tank and engine room, prohibit ignition sources, and follow enclosed-space entry procedures. Use only fuel-compatible materials and never perform hot work on or near an uncleared fuel tank.
