Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification No single standard applies to all marine water filters. Potable-water components may require NSF/ANSI 61 or equivalent approval. Filter performance and testing requirements depend on the manufacturer and application; installation should comply with the vessel's approved piping design and flag-state requirements.
Class Approval Class approval is application- and manufacturer-specific. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, and ClassNK may accept or approve filters used in classified systems when listed in the approved equipment documentation.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm flow direction, design pressure, temperature, filtration rating, material compatibility, and connection dimensions before installation. Fit isolation valves and a drain or vent where required. Clean pipework before commissioning and provide adequate access for element removal.
Maintenance Tips Monitor differential pressure and flow. Clean strainers and backwash elements at the manufacturer's recommended pressure limit. Replace disposable cartridges when pressure drop remains high or at the planned maintenance interval. Inspect housings, gaskets, drains, and corrosion during planned maintenance.
Safety Notes Isolate, depressurize, drain, and cool the filter housing before opening. Use suitable gloves and eye protection when handling contaminated seawater or chemical deposits. Confirm the filter is correctly secured before restarting pumps, and never exceed its rated pressure or temperature.
