Quad Rings - Engine Room Consumables and Spares

Quad rings, also called X-rings, are elastomeric sealing rings with a four-lobed cross-section. They are used in marine engine-room equipment to prevent leakage of lubricating oil, hydraulic fluid, fuel, cooling water and air.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Quad Rings for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Dimensions may be selected using AS568 or ISO 3601 practices where applicable. Elastomer compounds are commonly specified using ASTM D2000 or equivalent material standards. Certification depends on material, supplier and application.
Class Approval Quad rings are generally not inherently type-approved by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV or ClassNK. Class acceptance may apply to the complete marine system or equipment and depends on documented material, traceability and application suitability.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm groove dimensions, seal material and fluid compatibility before installation. Clean the groove and mating surfaces, remove burrs, lubricate with compatible fluid or grease, and install without twisting, stretching or cutting the seal.
Maintenance Tips Inspect during planned maintenance for flattening, cuts, hardening, swelling, extrusion and leakage. Replace damaged or aged seals rather than reusing them, and keep spare rings sealed, cool, dry and protected from sunlight and ozone.
Safety Notes Depressurize, drain and isolate the equipment before replacement. Use seal material compatible with the fuel, oil, hydraulic fluid, chemicals and operating temperature. Do not use damaged seals or exceed the manufacturer's pressure, speed and temperature limits.
