Compressor Crankshafts - Auxiliary Machinery and Engine Room

A compressor crankshaft converts rotary drive into reciprocating piston motion in marine starting-air, control-air and service-air compressors. It is an OEM-specific, precision-machined component designed to withstand cyclic bending, torsional and bearing loads.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Compressor Crankshafts for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Manufacture, material traceability, dimensional tolerances and testing should follow the compressor OEM drawings and quality requirements. ISO 1217 applies to displacement-compressor acceptance testing but does not define universal crankshaft dimensions.
Class Approval Individual crankshafts are normally accepted as OEM or class-accepted replacement parts within the approved compressor assembly. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK documentation or survey may be required for critical starting-air compressor repairs.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm compressor model, serial number, rotation, journal sizes, bearing type and OEM part number. Check runout, bearing clearances, lubrication passages, coupling alignment and connecting-rod orientation. Tighten fasteners to OEM torque values and rotate manually before commissioning.
Maintenance Tips Maintain correct lubricating-oil grade and level. Periodically inspect journal wear, scoring, corrosion, cracks, runout and bearing clearances. Monitor vibration, oil pressure and abnormal knocking. Use approved nondestructive testing during major overhaul when required.
Safety Notes Isolate electrical power, lock out the drive, vent compressed air and verify zero pressure before dismantling. Support the crankshaft with suitable lifting equipment. Do not grind, weld, straighten or undersize journals unless expressly permitted by the OEM and classification society.
