Turbine Rotors - Auxiliary Machinery and Engine Room

A turbine rotor is the high-speed rotating assembly that converts exhaust-gas or steam energy into shaft power in marine turbochargers and auxiliary turbines. It is an OEM-specific, precision-balanced component typically comprising a turbine wheel and shaft.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Turbine Rotors for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Rotor balancing is commonly controlled using ISO 21940 principles. Marine turbocharger safety is covered by ISO 5389. Material certificates, dimensional reports, balancing records and nondestructive examination may be required by the OEM or purchaser.
Class Approval Acceptance may be subject to DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, ClassNK or other vessel-class rules. Turbine rotors are generally supplied as OEM-matched spares; class documentation or survey may be required for critical repairs or non-OEM replacement.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm the exact turbine or turbocharger type, serial number and rotor part number. Check shaft runout, bearing clearances, nozzle condition, sealing parts and balance documentation. Install using OEM tooling, tightening values and alignment procedures.
Maintenance Tips Inspect blades for erosion, deposits, cracking and foreign-object damage. Check journals, seals, runout and vibration trends. Keep exhaust or steam passages clean and use only approved repair and balancing facilities.
Safety Notes Isolate steam, exhaust gas, starting air and lubricating-oil systems before work. Allow the unit to cool and verify that the rotor has stopped. Never grind, weld, straighten or operate a damaged rotor without OEM-approved engineering and high-speed balancing.
