Hydraulic Power Units - Auxiliary Machinery and Engine Room

A marine hydraulic power unit supplies pressurized oil to auxiliary machinery such as steering gear, deck machinery, stabilizers, hatch covers and propulsion controls. It typically integrates pumps, electric motors, a reservoir, filtration, valves, instrumentation and cooling equipment.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Hydraulic Power Units for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common design references include ISO 4413 for hydraulic fluid power safety, ISO 4406 for fluid cleanliness coding, IEC 60092 for shipboard electrical installations and applicable IMO/SOLAS requirements. Component standards and certification depend on the machinery served and vessel class.
Class Approval Marine HPUs may be supplied with project-specific approval or product certificates from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK. Approval is not universal and must match the vessel, essential-service designation, pressure system, electrical equipment and class rules.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Mount on a rigid, level foundation with service access and adequate ventilation. Use correctly rated marine hoses or piping, provide flexible connections where required, verify suction conditions and drainage, flush the circuit, fill with approved clean oil, align couplings and test alarms, relief settings and emergency functions.
Maintenance Tips Check oil level, temperature, pressure, leakage and abnormal noise regularly. Sample oil, maintain the specified ISO cleanliness level, replace filters by differential-pressure indication, clean coolers and breathers, inspect hoses and couplings, and test standby pumps, accumulators, alarms and shutdowns periodically.
Safety Notes Depressurize and isolate electrical power before maintenance. Hydraulic injection injuries require immediate medical attention. Never search for leaks by hand; use suitable detection methods. Verify accumulator isolation and discharge, guard hot or rotating parts, contain spills and use fire-resistant fluid where required by the risk assessment or class rules.
