Fresh Water Generators - Auxiliary Machinery and Engine Room

Marine fresh water generators produce low-salinity distillate from seawater, typically by vacuum evaporation using main-engine jacket-water heat. They supply technical and potable-water systems after appropriate treatment and mineralization.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Fresh Water Generators for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include IMO and flag-state potable-water provisions, WHO drinking-water guidance, IEC 60092 for shipboard electrical equipment, and manufacturer pressure-equipment standards. Certification depends on vessel class, installation and supplied configuration.
Class Approval Units and installations may be supplied or certified to the rules of DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, ClassNK or other societies when specified. Approval is model-, configuration- and vessel-specific.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install with correct seawater, jacket-water, brine, distillate and vacuum connections. Maintain specified pipe sizes, flow direction and pump suction head. Fit salinity monitoring, automatic reject routing, isolation valves and potable-water post-treatment where required.
Maintenance Tips Monitor vacuum, production rate, temperatures and distillate salinity. Inspect ejector nozzles, demister, pumps and seals. Descale heat-transfer surfaces using approved chemicals, replace gaskets as required and prevent prolonged stagnant seawater exposure.
Safety Notes Isolate electrical power and all fluid circuits before opening the unit. Release vacuum and verify zero pressure and safe temperature. Follow chemical handling procedures during descaling, and never send untreated or high-salinity distillate to potable-water tanks.
