Pump Shafts - Auxiliary Machinery and Engine Room

A pump shaft transmits torque from the driver to the impeller or rotor in marine auxiliary pumps. It is a precision-machined, pump-specific spare used in seawater, cooling, ballast, bilge, fuel and lubricating-oil systems.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Pump Shafts for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Pump shafts are normally supplied to OEM drawings and material specifications. Applicable pump standards may include ISO 2858 and ISO 5199 for centrifugal pumps, or API 610 where contractually specified. EN 10204 3.1 material certification may be requested.
Class Approval Individual shafts are not normally type-approved separately. Material traceability, dimensional inspection and survey documentation may be required when the associated pump is class-critical under DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK rules.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm pump model, size, serial number, rotation and material code. Check shaft straightness, fits, keyways and threads; renew worn bearings, sleeves and seals as required. Align the pump and driver, balance rotating parts where specified, and tighten fasteners to OEM torque values.
Maintenance Tips Inspect seal and bearing journals for scoring, corrosion and fretting. Measure shaft runout and wear against OEM limits, verify coupling alignment, maintain correct bearing lubrication and investigate recurring seal leakage or vibration before returning the pump to service.
Safety Notes Isolate electrical or mechanical drive power, lock out and tag out the pump, depressurize and drain the system, and account for hazardous fluids. Support heavy rotating components and use approved lifting equipment. Fit guards before operational testing.
