Heat Exchangers - Auxiliary Machinery and Engine Room
Marine heat exchangers transfer heat between seawater, freshwater, lubricating oil, fuel oil, steam or refrigerant without mixing the fluids. They are used for engine cooling, central cooling, oil cooling, HVAC and heat-recovery duties.
ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Heat Exchangers for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval
Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.
| Applicable Standards & Certification | Design and fabrication may comply with ASME BPVC Section VIII, EN 13445, API 660 for shell-and-tube units, or API 662 for plate heat exchangers, depending on type, pressure and contract requirements. PED conformity may apply to equipment placed on the European market. |
|---|---|
| Class Approval | Marine heat exchangers may be supplied with design approval, product certification or material traceability from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK when required. Approval is model-, duty- and vessel-specific and should be verified against the certificate. |
Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information
| Installation Notes | Install according to the manufacturer's flow arrangement, allowable nozzle loads and service clearances. Support connected piping independently, fit vents and drains, use compatible gaskets, and avoid galvanic coupling where titanium or copper alloys contact dissimilar metals. |
|---|---|
| Maintenance Tips | Monitor inlet and outlet temperatures, pressure drop and leakage. Clean seawater passages regularly, inspect plates, tubes, gaskets and sacrificial anodes, and renew damaged seals. Use only approved chemical-cleaning methods and tighten plate packs to the specified dimension. |
| Safety Notes | Isolate, depressurize, drain and cool both circuits before opening. Treat hot oil, steam, chemicals and seawater as hazardous fluids. Never loosen covers or plate-pack bolts under pressure, and pressure-test after reassembly within the manufacturer's stated limits. |
