Pump Seals - Auxiliary Machinery and Engine Room

Pump seals prevent leakage where rotating shafts pass through pump casings in marine engine-room and auxiliary systems. Common forms include mechanical seals, cartridge seals, elastomer bellows seals and packed-gland arrangements selected for the pumped fluid and operating conditions.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Pump Seals for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common dimensional and design references include EN 12756 and ISO 3069. API 682 and ISO 21049 apply to specified centrifugal-pump sealing systems, particularly hydrocarbon service. Material certificates and pressure-test documentation may be required by the vessel specification.
Class Approval Acceptance may be required from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK as part of the pump, piping system or vessel approval. Individual replacement seals are not automatically class-approved; equivalence, material compatibility and manufacturer documentation should be verified.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm pump model, shaft and housing dimensions, rotation, pressure, temperature and fluid compatibility. Inspect shaft sleeves and seal chambers, install clean components without damaging faces or elastomers, set cartridge clips correctly, align the pump and vent or prime it before starting.
Maintenance Tips Check regularly for leakage, abnormal temperature, vibration and dry-running damage. Keep seal-flush passages clear, maintain bearings and alignment, and replace worn faces, sleeves, springs and elastomers with compatible parts. Record operating hours and leakage trends.
Safety Notes Isolate, depressurize, drain and lock out the pump before work. Treat hot, pressurized, flammable or toxic fluids according to the vessel safety procedures. Never run a wet mechanical seal dry, and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
