Armored Cables - Electrical, Lighting and Power

Armored marine electrical cables distribute power and supply lighting circuits aboard ships. They combine insulated conductors with metallic braid armor for mechanical protection and may use flame-retardant, low-smoke, halogen-free materials.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Armored Cables for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common marine cable standards include IEC 60092-350 for general construction, IEC 60092-353 for low-voltage power cables and IEC 60092-360 for insulating and sheathing materials. Fire performance may be tested to IEC 60332, IEC 60754 and IEC 61034.
Class Approval Type-approved marine cable variants are available from manufacturers under DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, RINA and ClassNK approvals. Approval depends on the exact cable type, size, voltage rating and current certificate.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select conductor size for load, voltage drop, short-circuit duty and ambient conditions. Observe the manufacturer's minimum bending radius, use certified marine cable glands, support cables securely and bond or earth the armor as required by the vessel design.
Maintenance Tips Inspect exposed runs, glands and terminations for abrasion, corrosion, overheating or loose connections. Perform insulation-resistance and continuity tests during scheduled maintenance, following manufacturer and class requirements.
Safety Notes Isolate, lock out and verify circuits are de-energized before work. Use correctly rated glands and termination hardware, maintain fire-boundary sealing, and do not exceed the cable's voltage, current or temperature ratings.
