Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Marine installations may require IEC 60945 for maritime navigation and radiocommunication equipment, IEC 60092-504 for special features of marine electrical installations, and applicable IECEx, ATEX, or marine type-approval certificates for hazardous-area models. Verify the certificate for the exact model.
Class Approval Depending on model and application, marine-approved sirens may be accepted by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK. Classification approval is model-specific and must be confirmed from the manufacturer's certificate and vessel-approved drawings.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm supply voltage, alarm circuit compatibility, sound pressure, tone requirements, ambient temperature, enclosure rating, and hazardous-area classification before installation. Mount with the sound outlet unobstructed and use suitable marine cable glands, cable, fuses, and earthing.
Maintenance Tips Inspect periodically for corrosion, loose terminals, water ingress, blocked sound openings, and damaged cable glands. Test each alarm tone and verify sound output according to the vessel's planned maintenance system. Isolate power before opening non-intrinsically safe equipment.
Safety Notes Follow the manufacturer's wiring and certification instructions. Do not use a non-certified device in a hazardous area. Alarm sound levels can damage hearing; use hearing protection during testing and coordinate tests with the bridge, engine room, and crew.
