Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common applicable standards include IEC 60092 for ship electrical installations, IEC 60529 for ingress protection, EN 62444 for cable glands, and IEC 60079 for hazardous-area glands. Certification depends on the exact model, material and thread type.
Class Approval Marine cable glands may be supplied with type approval from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK. Approval is manufacturer- and model-specific and must be verified against the vessel's class requirements and current certificate.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select the gland for the cable diameter, armour type, enclosure thread and required IP or Ex rating. Use the specified sealing washer, locknut and earth tag, prepare armour correctly, and tighten components to the manufacturer's torque.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for corrosion, loose fittings, damaged seals and cable movement. Maintain armour continuity and enclosure sealing. Replace hardened or damaged elastomer seals and avoid painting over inspection or earthing surfaces.
Safety Notes Isolate and verify electrical power before installation or removal. In hazardous areas, use only correctly certified glands and accessories for the zone, gas or dust group and temperature class; unauthorized modification can invalidate certification.
