Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification IEC 60309-1 and IEC 60309-2 are the principal standards for industrial plugs, socket-outlets and couplers. IEC 60529 applies to enclosure ingress protection. Marine installations may also require IEC 60092 requirements and applicable flag-state or vessel specifications.
Class Approval Classification approval is product- and installation-specific. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK may accept or approve marine socket assemblies when documented for the intended vessel service and installation environment.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select voltage, current rating, pole configuration, clock position and IP rating to match the vessel distribution system. Install with marine-approved cable glands, proper strain relief, corrosion-resistant fasteners and correctly sized protective devices. Verify isolation and phase sequence before energizing.
Maintenance Tips Inspect contacts, covers, seals, cable entries and mounting points regularly. Clean with approved non-conductive methods, tighten terminals to the manufacturer's torque and replace damaged housings, gaskets or contacts. Check insulation and earth continuity during scheduled electrical maintenance.
Safety Notes De-energize, isolate and verify absence of voltage before installation or servicing. Do not exceed the socket's voltage, current or environmental rating. Keep covers closed when disconnected, prevent saltwater ingress and use only correctly keyed plugs and compatible accessories.
