Inverters - Electrical, Lighting and Power

Marine inverters convert DC battery power into stable AC power for vessel lighting, electronics, appliances and auxiliary loads. Inverter-chargers can also charge batteries from shore power or an onboard generator.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Inverters for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include IEC 60092-504 for special features of electrical installations on ships, IEC 60533 for electromagnetic compatibility on ships, ISO 13297 for small-craft electrical systems, and ABYC A-31 where applicable. Certification depends on model and installation.
Class Approval Marine type approval is model- and application-specific. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK may accept approved equipment when required by the vessel specification. Verify the manufacturer's certificate and class requirements before procurement.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install in a dry, ventilated location with adequate cooling clearance. Size DC cables, fuses and disconnects for continuous and peak current. Provide proper AC/DC grounding, polarity protection and shore-power isolation. Follow the manufacturer's wiring diagram and vessel electrical plan.
Maintenance Tips Inspect terminals, cable insulation, ventilation openings and cooling fans periodically. Check battery condition, alarm history and protective devices. Keep the enclosure dry and clean, and test inverter, charger and transfer functions during planned maintenance.
Safety Notes Disconnect shore power, batteries and other energy sources before servicing. DC systems can deliver very high fault currents; install correctly rated fuses and disconnects. Do not connect inverter output to another AC source without an approved transfer system. Use qualified marine electrical personnel.
