Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Commonly designed and tested to IEC 60947-2. Marine installations may also require IEC 60092-202 and applicable type-test or product-certification requirements. Final compliance depends on the selected breaker, configuration and vessel project specification.
Class Approval Marine-approved configurations may be accepted by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, ClassNK and RINA. Approval is model-, rating- and installation-specific and should be verified from the manufacturer's type-approval certificate.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select voltage, poles, rated current, interrupting capacity and trip characteristics from the approved single-line diagram and prospective-fault calculation. Install with specified clearances, torque values, cable sizes and enclosure protection. Verify phase identification and insulation before energizing.
Maintenance Tips Inspect terminals, insulation, operating mechanism and trip-unit settings periodically. Remove dust and salt deposits, check tightening torque, exercise stored breakers and perform insulation and functional trip tests according to the vessel maintenance plan and manufacturer instructions.
Safety Notes Installation and testing must be performed by qualified electrical personnel under an approved isolation and lockout procedure. Confirm the circuit is de-energized before work. Never exceed the breaker's voltage, current or interrupting rating, and do not bypass protective trips.
