Flow Switches - Electrical, Lighting and Power

Marine flow switches are electromechanical or electronic devices that detect liquid or gas flow and provide an alarm, shutdown, or control signal. They are used in shipboard cooling, lubrication, ballast, fire-fighting, fuel, and service-water systems.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Flow Switches for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include IEC 60529 for enclosure protection and IEC 60947-5-1 for low-voltage control-circuit devices. Product approvals and marine environmental compliance are model-specific and must be confirmed from the manufacturer.
Class Approval Some manufacturer variants may be supplied with DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK approval. Classification approval is model-, installation-, and vessel-specific; verify the certificate before procurement.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install in the correct flow direction and in a pipe section providing stable, full flow. Use the specified process connection, sealing method, and electrical cable gland. Confirm the switching setpoint, contact rating, and compatibility with the pumped medium.
Maintenance Tips Inspect periodically for fouling, scale, corrosion, leakage, and damaged wiring. Clean the sensing element where permitted and function-test the alarm or shutdown circuit during planned maintenance. Replace seals and switches according to the manufacturer instructions.
Safety Notes Isolate, depressurize, drain, and electrically lock out the system before installation or removal. Do not exceed pressure, temperature, flow, voltage, or contact-current ratings. Use suitable hazardous-area equipment where required and verify fail-safe alarm operation.
