Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include IEC 60947-1, IEC 60947-4-1 for contactors and motor-starters, IEC 60092 series for electrical installations in ships, and IEC 60533 for electromagnetic compatibility on ships. Certification depends on the complete assembly and configuration.
Class Approval Marine type approval or product acceptance may be available from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, and ClassNK. Approval is model-, enclosure-, and application-dependent and should be verified from the manufacturer's certificate.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select the starter for motor rated current, voltage, starting method, fault level, duty category, ambient temperature, and shipboard power-system characteristics. Install according to the manufacturer wiring diagram and IEC 60092 requirements. Provide correct upstream protection, earthing, cable sizing, and enclosure protection.
Maintenance Tips Inspect terminals, contact wear, overload settings, insulation condition, enclosure seals, and ventilation during planned maintenance. Test start-stop operation, trip functions, remote controls, and alarms. Replace damaged contactors, overload relays, or auxiliary contacts with approved equivalents.
Safety Notes Isolate, lock out, and verify absence of voltage before installation or maintenance. Do not bypass overload or short-circuit protection. Confirm phase sequence, motor rotation, and control-circuit voltage before commissioning. Use only components suitable for the vessel's electrical system and hazardous-area classification where applicable.
