Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable guidance may include ABYC E-11 for recreational craft electrical systems, ISO 13297 for small-craft electrical installations, and EN 50342-2 for lead-acid starter battery dimensions and terminal marking. Compliance is product- and installation-specific.
Class Approval Individual battery terminals are not universally class-approved. Acceptance depends on material, current rating, installation, and vessel rules; installations may be surveyed by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Match terminal polarity, post type, cable size, and current rating. Disconnect the negative conductor first and reconnect it last. Clean mating surfaces, crimp with the specified tooling, tighten to the manufacturer's torque, insulate exposed live parts, and support cables against vibration.
Maintenance Tips Inspect regularly for corrosion, discoloration, looseness, cracked insulation, and heat damage. Keep terminals clean and dry, retorque only to the specified value, and apply an approved battery-terminal protectant after assembly.
Safety Notes Isolate charging and load circuits before work. Wear eye and hand protection, prevent short circuits with insulated tools, observe polarity, and keep sparks and flames away because charging batteries may release explosive hydrogen.
