Cam Switches - Electrical, Lighting and Power

Cam switches are manually operated rotary switches used on ships for circuit selection, motor control, changeover, isolation, lighting control and electrical panel functions. Marine versions are selected for compact construction, clear positions, suitable ratings and resistance to vibration and environmental conditions.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Cam Switches for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification IEC 60947-3 is commonly applicable to switches, disconnectors and switch-disconnectors. IEC 60947-5-1 may apply to control-circuit switching devices. Final ratings, enclosure protection and marine compliance depend on the exact manufacturer configuration.
Class Approval Classification approval is configuration- and application-dependent. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and RINA may accept or approve cam switches when listed in an approved marine switchboard or equipment assembly. Verify the exact type-approval certificate.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install with the correct contact arrangement, current and voltage rating for the circuit. Mount securely in the specified panel cutout, identify all positions, tighten terminals to the manufacturer's torque and provide suitable enclosure protection.
Maintenance Tips Inspect periodically for loose terminals, overheating, corrosion, damaged handles and abnormal operating force. Keep the mechanism clean and dry, and replace contacts or the complete switch if contact resistance or insulation performance is unacceptable.
Safety Notes Isolate, lock out and verify absence of voltage before installation or maintenance. Do not exceed the rated utilization category, short-circuit withstand or switching capacity. Use a suitably rated upstream protective device and follow vessel electrical safety procedures.
