Die Grinders - General Stores, Hardware and Tools

Die grinders are compact rotary tools used aboard ships for grinding, deburring, polishing, porting, and surface preparation. Pneumatic models are common in engine rooms, workshops, and ship-repair areas because they avoid electrical ignition sources when supplied with clean compressed air.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Die Grinders for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Pneumatic tools are commonly specified to ISO 11148-9 for hand-held non-electric power tools, die grinders. Abrasive-wheel use should follow applicable ISO 525, ANSI B7.1, manufacturer instructions, and local occupational safety requirements. Electrical versions should carry applicable CE, UKCA, or equivalent conformity marking.
Class Approval Hand-held die grinders normally do not require DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV, or ClassNK type approval. Use in hazardous areas must comply with the vessel's approved equipment and electrical safety requirements; ordinary electric models are not automatically explosion-proof.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select the correct pneumatic or electrical version for the work area. Inspect the collet, guard, hose or power cable, and abrasive accessory before use. Install only accessories rated for the grinder's maximum speed, tighten the collet correctly, and connect pneumatic tools through a suitable filter-regulator-lubricator where specified.
Maintenance Tips Keep air tools clean and lubricated according to the manufacturer's instructions. Drain moisture from air lines, inspect hoses and cables, clean ventilation openings, and check collet runout and spindle condition. Replace worn bearings, collets, guards, and damaged accessories before continued use.
Safety Notes Wear eye and face protection, hearing protection, gloves, and suitable protective clothing. Secure the workpiece, maintain a firm grip, and never exceed the accessory speed rating. Disconnect electrical power or compressed air before changing accessories. Do not use ordinary electric grinders in hazardous areas unless specifically approved for that location.
