Standards, Certifications & Class Approval
Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.
| Applicable Standards & Certification | EN 818-7 covers fine-tolerance short-link chains for hoists, including Grades T, DAT, and DT. ISO 3077 covers short-link chains for lifting purposes. Complete hoist assemblies may also be assessed against ASME B30.16 or applicable national regulations. |
|---|---|
| Class Approval | The chain itself is not automatically class-approved. Marine acceptance may require manufacturer certificates, proof testing, and inspection by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK when required by the vessel, flag, or lifting-equipment specification. |
Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information
| Installation Notes | Fit only the chain size and grade specified by the hoist manufacturer. Install in the correct direction and ensure every link engages correctly with the load sheave. Do not mix chain from different manufacturers or grades without approval. |
|---|---|
| Maintenance Tips | Inspect links, welds, elongation, corrosion, twisting, gouging, and deformation at regular intervals. Lubricate with a suitable chain lubricant compatible with the manufacturer’s instructions. Remove from service if wear or damage exceeds permitted limits. |
| Safety Notes | Never exceed the hoist rated capacity or use a load chain as a general-purpose sling unless specifically approved. Do not weld, heat, shorten, repair, or straighten damaged chain. Keep personnel clear of suspended loads and follow the vessel’s lifting-equipment inspection procedure. |
