Washers - General Stores, Hardware and Tools

Marine washers are small hardware components fitted under bolt heads, nuts, or screw heads to distribute load, protect mating surfaces, maintain preload, and reduce loosening. Shipboard stocks commonly include flat, spring, locking, sealing, and large outside-diameter washers in corrosion-resistant materials.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Washers for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common dimensional standards include ISO 7089, ISO 7090, ISO 7091, ISO 7092, ISO 7093, and DIN 125, DIN 127, DIN 9021. Material and mechanical property requirements may be specified to ISO 898-3 or applicable ASTM standards.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select the washer type, inner diameter, outer diameter, thickness, material, and strength for the fastener and joint. Install clean and flat beneath the bolt head or nut. Use locking washers only where appropriate and tighten fasteners to the specified torque.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for corrosion, deformation, cracking, embedding, or loss of locking function during planned maintenance. Replace damaged or heavily corroded washers and avoid reusing distorted spring or wedge-locking washers.
Safety Notes Use washers compatible with the fastener material and marine environment to reduce galvanic corrosion. Do not substitute ordinary washers for engineered structural or vibration-resistant locking systems. Follow the vessel's approved torque and fastening procedures.
