Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification IEC 60974-11 covers electrode holders for manual metal arc welding. The holder should also comply with the manufacturer's declared current rating, insulation, and electrical safety requirements.
Class Approval Electrode holders are generally not individually class-approved. Use onboard welding equipment in accordance with the vessel's safety management system, flag requirements, and applicable class survey instructions. DNV, ABS, LR, BV, and ClassNK may inspect welding arrangements and procedures rather than approve each holder.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Fit the correctly sized welding cable using the manufacturer's specified terminal and hardware. Tighten all connections securely, maintain full insulation, and connect the work return cable to a clean metallic location near the weld.
Maintenance Tips Inspect jaws, handle insulation, cable connection, and trigger or clamping mechanism before use. Remove weld spatter, replace damaged insulation or worn jaws, and keep electrical contacts clean and tight.
Safety Notes De-energize the welding power source before changing electrodes or servicing the holder. Wear approved welding PPE, keep the holder insulated from grounded surfaces, prevent contact with water, and do not use a holder with cracked insulation or exposed conductors.
