Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common references include EN 1677-2 for forged steel lifting hooks with latch, ASME B30.10 for hooks, and applicable manufacturer or national lifting-equipment requirements. Certification depends on hook type and intended use.
Class Approval Classification-society approval is not universal for general-purpose hooks. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV, and ClassNK may accept or approve lifting appliances and components when required by the vessel specification or lifting-appliance notation.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select the hook by WLL, hook type, connection size, and sling or hoist compatibility. Install only in the orientation specified by the manufacturer. Ensure the load seats in the hook bowl and do not side-load the hook.
Maintenance Tips Inspect before each use for cracks, deformation, wear, corrosion, latch damage, and illegible markings. Remove from service if the hook is bent, twisted, cracked, excessively worn, or has a defective latch. Maintain inspection records according to the vessel's lifting-gear program.
Safety Notes Never exceed the marked WLL or use a hook for personnel lifting unless specifically certified. Do not tip-load, shock-load, weld, heat, or modify the hook. Keep personnel clear of suspended loads and use only trained riggers.
