Aluminum Paint - Marine Paint and Painting Equipment

Aluminum-pigmented marine paint is a reflective protective coating used on selected shipboard steel, tanks, decks, piping, and equipment. It helps reduce radiant heat and provides corrosion protection when applied over a compatible primer or specified substrate.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Selection and application may be specified under ISO 12944 for corrosion protection and ISO 8501-1 for visual assessment of blast-cleaned steel. Product-specific technical data sheets and approval requirements apply.
Class Approval Classification approval is product- and application-specific. DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, and ClassNK may accept coating systems when approved or documented for the vessel application; aluminum paint is not universally class-approved.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm the coating type, substrate, primer compatibility, environmental limits, and required dry-film thickness from the manufacturer's technical data sheet. Remove oil, salts, rust, and loose coating; prepare the surface to the specified ISO 8501-1 grade. Apply within the permitted temperature, humidity, and overcoating intervals.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for chalking, blistering, cracking, corrosion, and mechanical damage. Wash off salt and contaminants with fresh water, repair damaged areas using the approved preparation and coating system, and record batch numbers and dry-film thicknesses.
Safety Notes Review the safety data sheet before use. Provide ventilation, wear suitable gloves, eye protection, protective clothing, and approved respiratory protection where required. Keep away from ignition sources and observe solvent, mixing, and confined-space entry precautions.
