Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.
| Applicable Standards & Certification | Applicable requirements depend on service and product approval. Common references include ISO 12944 for protective paint systems, ISO 8501-1 for surface preparation, ISO 8503 for surface profile, ISO 19840 for dry-film thickness measurement, and IMO PSPC where applicable to ballast tanks. |
|---|---|
| Class Approval | Approval is product- and service-specific. Marine coating systems may be accepted or approved by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK when supported by the manufacturer's documentation and project requirements. |
Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information
| Installation Notes | Prepare steel to the coating manufacturer's specified cleanliness and surface profile, commonly abrasive blast-cleaning to Sa 2½ or SSPC-SP 10. Confirm dew point, steel temperature, mixing ratio, pot life, spray-tip size, pressure and required dry-film thickness from the current product data sheet. Apply stripe coats to welds, edges and difficult areas. |
|---|---|
| Maintenance Tips | Inspect coating condition, thickness, blistering, cracking, rusting and chemical attack at scheduled intervals. Repair damaged areas using the manufacturer's approved surface preparation and recoating procedure. Keep containers sealed and observe storage temperature and shelf life. |
| Safety Notes | Use the current safety data sheet and provide ventilation, respiratory protection, protective gloves, eye protection and suitable coveralls. Control ignition sources and observe confined-space, solvent-vapor and tank-entry procedures. Do not exceed product pot life or use contaminated mixed material. |
