Standards, Certifications & Class Approval
Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.
| Applicable Standards & Certification | Depending on model and market, blasting helmets may be certified to EN 14594, EN 14593, NIOSH 42 CFR Part 84, ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 or applicable national regulations. Breathing-air quality and workplace controls should comply with OSHA 1910.94 and 1910.134 where applicable. Verify the exact model marking. |
|---|---|
| Class Approval | Standalone blasting helmets are not normally type-approved by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV or ClassNK. Acceptance onboard is generally based on statutory respiratory-protection certification, flag-state requirements, shipyard procedures and the vessel's safety-management system. |
Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information
| Installation Notes | Inspect the helmet, cape, visor, lens retainers, breathing-air hose and fittings before use. Connect only to a dedicated breathing-air supply through the specified filtration, regulator and flow-control equipment. Check airflow and perform a leak or operational test before entering the blasting area. |
|---|---|
| Maintenance Tips | Replace scratched or heavily abraded outer lenses, damaged capes, seals and hoses. Clean the helmet with approved mild detergent and water; do not use solvents on visors or seals. Drain and service filters, separators and regulators according to the manufacturer schedule, and store the helmet clean and dry. |
| Safety Notes | Use only with certified breathing air, never ordinary compressed shop air unless properly treated and verified. Confirm required airflow and pressure from the manufacturer. Wear hearing protection and suitable blasting clothing, gloves and footwear. Do not use a damaged helmet or operate without adequate ventilation, containment and abrasive-blasting controls. |
