Hardener - Marine Paint and Painting Equipment
Marine paint hardener, also called curing agent or activator, is the reactive component mixed with two-component coatings such as epoxy and polyurethane paints. It enables curing, adhesion, chemical resistance, and mechanical durability on ship structures, decks, tanks, machinery, and equipment.
ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Hardener for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval
Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.
| Applicable Standards & Certification | Requirements depend on the complete coating system and service area. Marine coating systems may be qualified to IMO PSPC requirements for protective coatings in dedicated seawater ballast tanks and applicable ISO 12944 procedures. Always follow the product technical data sheet. |
|---|---|
| Class Approval | Approval is normally issued for the complete coating system or specific application, not for a generic hardener alone. Applicable approvals may involve DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK, subject to the coating manufacturer and vessel specification. |
Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information
| Installation Notes | Confirm the exact hardener specified for the base coating. Mix the components in the manufacturer's stated ratio using clean equipment, observe induction time and pot life, and apply within the specified temperature, humidity, and dew-point limits. Do not thin or substitute hardeners unless approved by the manufacturer. |
|---|---|
| Maintenance Tips | Keep containers sealed, dry, and within the stated storage temperature and shelf life. Protect from moisture, especially polyurethane isocyanate hardeners. Record batch numbers and inspect mixed coating for abnormal gelation, viscosity, or curing. |
| Safety Notes | Use the product safety data sheet, ventilation, chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection, and suitable respiratory protection. Isocyanate hardeners can cause sensitization, while epoxy hardeners may irritate or sensitize skin. Keep away from ignition sources and dispose of residues according to port and local regulations. |
