Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification ISO 11126-3 covers copper refinery slag abrasives for blast-cleaning. Surface preparation and visual cleanliness are commonly specified with ISO 8501-1; surface profile may be evaluated using ISO 8503 methods. Supplier safety data and certificates should be reviewed.
Class Approval Copper slag abrasive normally has no independent ship classification approval. Acceptance is generally based on the coating manufacturer’s requirements, shipyard procedures, project specifications, and applicable flag or class requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Use only in blasting equipment compatible with the abrasive grade. Confirm nozzle size, air pressure, abrasive flow, and required surface profile against the coating manufacturer’s instructions. Remove abrasive residue and dust before applying marine coating.
Maintenance Tips Store in a dry, covered area in sealed bags or containers. Prevent moisture contamination and mixing with other abrasives. Inspect blasting hoses, nozzles, pots, and moisture separators regularly.
Safety Notes Use a properly supplied-air blasting helmet, protective clothing, gloves, hearing protection, and suitable respiratory controls. Provide ventilation and dust extraction, test the abrasive and coating debris where required, and follow the supplier safety data sheet and shipyard abrasive-blasting procedures.
