Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Product-specific technical data sheets govern compliance. Surface preparation is commonly specified to ISO 8501-1 and coating systems are commonly designed to ISO 12944. IMO PSPC compliance applies only where the complete approved coating system is qualified for the relevant tank service.
Class Approval Approval is product- and application-specific. Marine coating systems may be accepted or approved by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK when specified and documented for the vessel service and coating system.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Prepare steel by removing oil, salt, rust, and contamination. Abrasive blast or mechanically prepare the surface to the coating manufacturer's specified standard and profile. Mix components at the stated ratio, observe induction and pot life, and apply within specified temperature, humidity, and recoat limits. Use calibrated airless spray equipment with the recommended tip and pressure.
Maintenance Tips Inspect coating for blistering, cracking, rust breakthrough, mechanical damage, and loss of adhesion. Clean surfaces before repair, remove defective coating and corrosion, feather edges, and reapply compatible primer or epoxy according to the manufacturer's repair procedure. Record batch numbers, film thickness, and environmental conditions.
Safety Notes Use the current safety data sheet and provide ventilation during mixing and application. Wear chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing, eye protection, and suitable respiratory protection. Keep away from ignition sources, avoid skin and eye contact, and treat airless spray injection injuries as medical emergencies. Dispose of residues and solvent waste according to local regulations.
