Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Marine coating application should follow the coating manufacturer’s technical data sheet and applicable IMO PSPC requirements, ISO 12944 corrosion-protection practices and ISO 8501 surface-preparation standards. ATEX-compliant equipment may be required in designated hazardous areas.
Class Approval Spray guns are generally not individually type-approved by DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s Register, BV or ClassNK. Class requirements normally apply to the coating system, surface preparation and documented application process.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select the gun, tip or nozzle, pressure and solvent-compatible seals according to the coating technical data sheet. Connect clean, dry compressed air or a rated airless pump, verify hose and fittings, and test the spray pattern before production painting.
Maintenance Tips Relieve pressure before servicing. Clean the gun immediately after use with the coating manufacturer’s approved solvent or cleaning agent. Inspect tips, needles, nozzles, filters, seals and hoses for wear, and lubricate only as specified by the manufacturer.
Safety Notes Use suitable respirator, gloves, eye protection and protective clothing. Never point the gun at people or hands; high-pressure airless injection injuries require urgent medical attention. Provide ventilation, control ignition sources and follow the coating SDS, especially for solvent-based and antifouling paints.
