Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Commonly specified with ISO 12944 for corrosion protection, ISO 8501-1 for surface preparation grades, ISO 8503 for surface profile, and applicable IMO PSPC requirements such as IMO MSC.215(82) for protective coatings in dedicated seawater ballast tanks. Product approval is formulation- and application-specific.
Class Approval Class approval is product- and service-specific. Approved coating systems may be accepted by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK for applicable ship areas, including ballast tanks, when supported by manufacturer documentation and survey requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Prepare steel to the coating manufacturer's specified cleanliness and surface profile, commonly abrasive blast cleaning to Sa 2.5 for new steel. Mix components at the stated ratio, observe induction and pot life, and apply the specified wet and dry film thickness under suitable temperature, humidity, and dew-point conditions.
Maintenance Tips Inspect coating condition regularly for blistering, rusting, cracking, peeling, and mechanical damage. Remove salts and contaminants, feather damaged edges, prepare exposed steel, and apply compatible repair coats within the manufacturer's recoat limits.
Safety Notes Review the product safety data sheet before use. Provide ventilation, suitable respirators, protective gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing. Keep paint and solvents away from ignition sources, control vapors in enclosed spaces, and follow confined-space and hot-work procedures.
