Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Paint brushes and basic painting tools generally do not have a universal marine type-approval requirement. Coating application should follow the coating manufacturer's product data sheet and applicable surface-preparation requirements such as ISO 8501-1.
Class Approval Individual paint brushes and rollers are normally not subject to type approval by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV or ClassNK. The applied marine coating system may require class or owner approval.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select bristle type and tool size according to the coating manufacturer's instructions. Remove loose bristles, keep the handle and ferrule clean, and apply coating at the specified temperature, humidity and wet-film thickness.
Maintenance Tips Clean brushes immediately after use with the coating manufacturer's recommended solvent or water. Remove cured paint from the ferrule, dry the bristles in their natural shape and store in a clean, dry location.
Safety Notes Use gloves, protective clothing, eye protection and suitable respiratory protection where required by the coating safety data sheet. Provide ventilation, control ignition sources when using flammable solvents, and follow onboard permit-to-work procedures.
