Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Coated abrasive sheets are commonly graded using FEPA P-grit designations under ISO 6344. Product construction and dimensions may also be specified by manufacturer standards. No universal marine-specific certification is normally required.
Class Approval Individual sandpaper sheets generally do not carry DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BV, or ClassNK type approval. Classification requirements normally apply to the coating system and surface-preparation procedure rather than the abrasive sheet.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select the grit and abrasive type recommended by the coating manufacturer. Use clean, dry sheets for dry sanding or waterproof sheets with clean water for wet sanding. Remove dust, salts, and moisture before applying primer or paint.
Maintenance Tips Store sheets flat in a dry area away from moisture and contamination. Replace clogged, worn, or torn abrasive sheets. Do not reuse sheets contaminated with oil, salt, or incompatible coatings.
Safety Notes Wear eye protection, suitable gloves, and respiratory protection when sanding coatings or corrosion. Use ventilation and dust extraction where possible. Treat existing marine coatings as potentially hazardous and follow the vessel's coating and waste-disposal procedures.
