Strainers - Pumps, Valves, Piping and Fittings

Marine strainers remove debris from seawater, freshwater, fuel, lubricating-oil and hydraulic piping systems. They protect pumps, valves, heat exchangers, coolers and other equipment from blockage or damage.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Strainers for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements may include ASME B16.5 or EN 1092 for flanges, ASME B16.34 where valve components are incorporated, and manufacturer pressure testing procedures. Material and pressure ratings must match the approved piping specification.
Class Approval Strainers may be accepted as components of class-approved piping systems by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK. Product-specific type approval is not universal and must be confirmed with the manufacturer and attending classification society.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install in the flow direction shown by the manufacturer, normally upstream of the protected equipment. Provide isolation valves, adequate access for basket removal, drain and vent connections where required, and support the piping independently of the strainer.
Maintenance Tips Monitor differential pressure and clean the basket when pressure loss increases or flow decreases. Inspect the basket, gasket, cover, drain and body for corrosion or damage, and replace sealing components during overhaul.
Safety Notes Isolate, depressurize, drain and cool the line before opening the strainer. Use appropriate PPE for hot, pressurized, toxic, fuel or seawater systems. Confirm correct basket seating and leak-tight closure before returning the system to service.
