Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Commonly engineered to applicable IEC 60092 shipboard electrical requirements and IEC 60529 enclosure protection. Shore-connection systems may follow IEC/IEEE 80005-1 or IEC/IEEE 80005-3. Compliance and certification depend on the complete reel, cable and connector assembly.
Class Approval Project-specific type approval or design acceptance may be required from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK. Approval is not universal and must be verified for the exact reel configuration and vessel class.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Mount on a rigid, aligned foundation with adequate drainage and service access. Verify cable bend radius, fleet angle, reel rotation, earthing, slip-ring rating, limit settings and compatibility with the vessel power system.
Maintenance Tips Inspect the cable, drum, bearings, drive, brakes, level-wind and slip rings regularly. Remove salt deposits, maintain coatings, lubricate specified points and test tension control, limits and emergency stops.
Safety Notes Isolate and lock out electrical and mechanical energy before servicing. Guard rotating and pinch points, avoid standing in the cable bight, maintain safe cable tension and confirm that the reel and cable ratings match the operating load and environment.
