Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Drum and rope selection may reference ISO 4308-1, ISO 16625, applicable FEM guidance, and manufacturer design standards. Materials, welding, guarding, machinery safety, and testing must comply with the vessel's flag-state and classification requirements.
Class Approval Project-specific design approval, material certification, welding inspection, load testing, and survey may be provided under DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, or ClassNK rules. Approval depends on the winch duty, vessel class, and complete machinery arrangement.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify shaft and bearing alignment, drum rotation, flange clearance, brake interface, foundation integrity, and fastener torque. Select groove diameter and pitch for the specified rope, maintain fleet-angle limits, and secure the rope termination according to the approved design.
Maintenance Tips Inspect grooves, flanges, welds, shaft interfaces, bearings, and rope anchorage for wear, cracking, deformation, and corrosion. Lubricate bearings as specified, maintain coatings, verify brake operation, and replace the drum if wear exceeds manufacturer limits.
Safety Notes Isolate and lock out the winch before inspection. Keep personnel clear of rotating drums, pinch points, snap-back zones, and tensioned rope. Do not exceed rated line pull or drum capacity, and ensure guards and emergency stops remain operational.
