Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Ship cargo blocks may be manufactured to JIS F 3421 or an equivalent recognized standard. Selection, proof testing, marking, inspection, and wire-rope compatibility should comply with flag-state requirements, applicable class rules, ISO 4309, and the vessel's approved cargo-gear plan.
Class Approval Certification is normally project- and vessel-specific rather than automatic. Cargo blocks may be inspected, proof-load tested, and certified under the rules of DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, ClassNK, or another vessel classification society.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select the block for the approved load, rope diameter, groove profile, and required sheave-to-rope diameter ratio. Align the block with the load path, secure pins and retainers, verify free sheave rotation, and reeve the rope without twists or crossovers.
Maintenance Tips Inspect sheave grooves, bearings, side plates, hooks, shackles, pins, and retainers for wear, cracks, corrosion, distortion, and seizure. Lubricate as specified, check rope condition, and maintain inspection and proof-test records.
Safety Notes Never exceed the marked SWL or WLL, shock-load, side-load, or use an uncertified block. Keep personnel clear of suspended loads and snap-back zones. Remove blocks from service if markings are illegible or if cracks, deformation, excessive groove wear, or damaged retainers are found.
