Propeller Blades - Deck Machinery and Hull Equipment

Marine propeller blades convert shaft torque into thrust for vessel propulsion. Fixed-pitch blades are integral with the propeller, while controllable-pitch blades are individually mounted to a hydraulically actuated hub.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Propeller Blades for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification ISO 484-1 and ISO 484-2 specify manufacturing tolerances for ship screw propellers. Blade materials, casting quality, nondestructive examination and repair acceptance are governed by the approved manufacturer specification and applicable classification society rules.
Class Approval Propeller blades and CPP assemblies may be supplied under project-specific approval or product certification from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, ClassNK, RINA or other vessel class societies. Approval depends on design, material traceability, NDT and inspection records.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm blade identity, position, rotation, mass and approved drawing before installation. Clean and inspect blade roots, hub pockets, fasteners and seals. Use certified lifting gear, specified tightening procedures and manufacturer-approved pitch setting and balancing checks.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for cavitation erosion, edge damage, cracks, corrosion, deformation and oil leakage at CPP blade seals. Measure damage against class limits, conduct approved NDT when required, and repair or rebalance only to manufacturer and classification procedures.
Safety Notes Isolate and lock out propulsion, pitch-control and shaft-turning systems before work. Secure the shaft against rotation and support each blade with rated lifting equipment. Treat cracks, major deformation and unauthorized weld repairs as class-reportable conditions.
