Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common requirements include EN 818-4 for Grade 8 chain slings, EN 818-6 for use and maintenance, EN 1677 for sling components, ISO 4778 for welded chain slings, and ASME B30.9. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.184 applies to chain-sling use in relevant US workplaces.
Class Approval Certification or survey may be required by the vessel's flag state or classification society, such as DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK. Acceptance is sling-, vessel- and lifting-appliance-specific; manufacturer certificates and current inspection records are normally required.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Select the sling by certified working load limit, leg count, sling angle and load geometry. Connect only to rated lifting points, prevent twisting or knotting, protect chain from sharp edges and ensure hooks, master links and shortening devices are correctly seated.
Maintenance Tips Inspect before use for wear, elongation, bent links, cracks, corrosion, heat damage and illegible tags. Arrange periodic examination by a competent person, clean without damaging the material and remove any sling exceeding manufacturer rejection limits from service.
Safety Notes Never exceed the tagged working load limit or use an unidentified sling. Account for sling-angle reductions, unequal loading, temperature and chemical exposure. Do not stand beneath suspended loads, shock-load the sling, repair by unauthorized welding or mix incompatible components.
