Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable standards include ISO 1751 for ship side scuttles, ISO 3903 for ordinary rectangular ship windows, ISO 21005 for thermally toughened safety glass panes, IMO SOLAS fire-safety requirements, and the IMO FTP Code for fire-rated assemblies. Compliance depends on type, location, and vessel rules.
Class Approval Type approval or case approval may be available from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, RINA, or ClassNK. Acceptance is configuration-specific and depends on glazing, frame, mounting, fire rating, installation location, and vessel class requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm cut-out dimensions, wall thickness, orientation, design pressure, fire boundary, and class requirements. Install on a flat, reinforced coaming using compatible marine sealant and specified fasteners. Tighten evenly without distorting the frame, then perform hose or pressure testing as required.
Maintenance Tips Inspect glazing, seals, hinges, dogs, drains, and fasteners regularly. Clean with glazing-compatible products, lubricate moving parts with approved lubricant, keep drainage channels clear, and replace hardened gaskets, corroded fasteners, or cracked glazing promptly.
Safety Notes Use approved safety glazing and wear eye and hand protection during handling. Do not drill or modify toughened glass. Fire-rated assemblies must not be altered or fitted with unapproved seals or glazing. Secure opening portlights and deadlights before heavy weather.
