Vent Heads - Deck Machinery and Hull Equipment

Marine vent heads, also called air pipe heads, terminate tank air pipes on exposed decks. They permit airflow during filling or emptying while using a float closure and screen to reduce seawater, debris, and pest ingress.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Vent Heads for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Applicable requirements include the International Convention on Load Lines for air pipes, IACS UR P3 for air-pipe closing devices, and JIS F 3012 where specified. Material, fire-safety, and flame-screen requirements depend on the tank service and vessel rules.
Class Approval Type-approved versions may be available from manufacturers under DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, RINA, or ClassNK approval. Approval must be verified for the exact model, size, material, and vessel service.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Install vertically on the designated air pipe with the specified flange, gasket, fasteners, and deck coaming height. Maintain the required vent area and ensure the float moves freely. Position openings to limit seawater entry and follow class-approved drawings.
Maintenance Tips Inspect the body, screen, gasket, seat, float, and fasteners for corrosion, blockage, wear, or sticking. Clean salt and debris regularly, confirm unrestricted airflow, and renew damaged seals or closure parts with approved spares.
Safety Notes Isolate and depressurize the tank before removal. Test for hazardous vapors and follow enclosed-space and hot-work procedures where applicable. Do not paint, obstruct, or modify the airflow path or automatic closure mechanism.
